The Organisation

The Department is excited to be leading the establishment of a Green Energy assessment unit, a cross government initiative driving the delivery of green energy solutions for Western Australia through clear, fit for purpose assessment and approval pathways that deliver strong environmental outcomes for the community and future generations.
This new team will consider a range of green energy projects including conventional wind, solar and wave generators, energy storage, hydrogen industries and lithium mining.

The Opportunity
This is a fixed term full time opportunity for 5 years.
Reporting to the Director General, this is a unique opportunity to establish and lead a team of leaders and technical experts to drive and implement the agency’s streamlined and innovative end to end green energy approvals that are aligned with the Government’s priorities and the Agency’s strategic direction.
Your experience
- This role would be suited to applicants from either the public or private sector and applications from individuals seeking the next step in their career and looking to fulfil a role that will truly make a difference to the community of Western Australia would be welcomed.
- You will need to demonstrate experience in driving and implementing significant and innovative change in a complex environment where resources are constrained, and stakeholder relationships are critical.
- Experience working with key partners to build cross-government commitment to develop new approaches and shape policy coupled with a solid understanding of climate, environment and sustainability issues will be important
- Your history of leading and motivating high performing teams and holding them accountable for delivering agreed priorities in a resource-constrained environment will be critical to your success.
- Proven success in securing buy-in and support from key internal clients and external stakeholders in complex and ambiguous internal and external contexts.
