Why we need you
The Network Operations Directorate is based at the Road Network Operations Centre (RNOC) in Perth’s CBD. The RNOC is a purpose-built, world-class facility designed to optimise road network safety, performance and congestion management.
Rapid advancements in technology are changing the transport landscape and are creating new challenges and opportunities for Main Roads. The Traffic Management Services branch is primarily responsible for providing leadership and specialist advice on traffic engineering, policies, procedures and practices for traffic signals, signs, pavement markings and speed zoning on all roads in the Metropolitan and Regional areas.
The Traffic Management Services branch is growing, which presents exciting opportunities for new members to join the team.
The Traffic Services Manager is responsible for managing the operational use and safety of the Western Australian Road and Principal Shared Path networks in association with State and Local Government agencies through the consistent application of policies, guidelines and practices.
About the Role
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in traffic engineering principles including traffic planning, investigation, design and safety, and traffic investigations, analysis and problem-solving.
Your strong negotiation and facilitation skills and ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders will play an essential role in developing and implementing the Traffic Management Services policies and practices on a large and complex road network that facilitates the safe and efficient movement of people and freight on the network.
Your exceptional leadership and influencing skills, including your proven experience in managing resources and employee behaviour, performance and development, will be critical to ensure the effective delivery of traffic management services.

- A statement outlining your comprehensive skill, knowledge and experience in the following three (3) criteria in no more than three (3) pages:
- traffic engineering principles and practices including traffic design, planning, safety and modelling in a diverse range of road environments
- negotiation and facilitation
- managing employee behaviour, performance and development
- A copy of your WA Driver’s Licence
- If applicable, please attach a copy of your Degree in Engineering or other relevant disciplines.
While there is one position immediately available, there may be other fixed-term positions (possibility of extension and/or permanency) available in the future.
