The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the vacancy of Senior Traction Power Engineer.  We are seeking applications from Electrical Engineers specialising in traction power to provide engineering expertise for the maintenance, design, construction, upgrades and modifications of 25kV Traction Power systems.  The incumbent will review the operational performance of all the Traction Power systems including the planning and scheduling of all maintenance and repairs and provide recommendations to the Principal Electrical Engineer.  This position sits within the Network & Infrastructure Division and reports directly to the Principal Electrical Engineer. 

To be successful in this position you will need to have:

  • A degree in Engineering (Electrical) to allow eligibility for membership to the Institute of Engineers (Australia) in the category of Chartered Professional Engineer.
  • Demonstrated understanding of High Voltage protection relays, power insfrastructure and SCADA systems in use in a railway environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in design, construction, testing and maintenance principles for 25kVTraction Power in an electrified railway environment.
  • Well developed conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to resolve complex technical and operational problems and issues.
  • Well developed organisational skills, including the ability to achieve agreed targets and timelines through the use of effective teamwork and delegation.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy.  Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur for up to 12 months.
