About the role
The Librarian is responsible for managing Legal Aid WA’s law library and delivering library services to staff. This includes:
- Maintaining Legal Aid WA’s electronic and physical library collection to ensure it remains up-to-date and meets the needs of legal and paralegal staff
- Providing customer service including high quality legal research support
- Ensuring library operations are compliant with relevant policies and requirements, and making recommendations for continuous improvement
- Providing advice in relation to the resources required to maintain an effective library service
About you
You will have a focus on providing excellent customer service, complemented by a diverse skill set and the ability to prioritise and multi-task in what can be a challenging role. You will also have:
- Experience in all aspects of managing a law library
- Ability to manage staff and budgets
- Excellent legal research skills
- Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions, and learn and embrace new technology
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and deliver training

Appointment to all positions at Legal Aid WA is subject to a satisfactory national criminal history check, integrity and conflict checks and 100-point identification check.
The Community Care Services Worker (Restrictions on Access) Directions No.2 and the Booster Vaccination (Restrictions on Access) Directions No.2 apply to all Legal Aid Western Australia worksites. The purpose of these Directions is to put some measures in place to prevent and limit the spread of COVID-19 to vulnerable populations in Western Australia. To be eligible for appointment you must provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19.
This selection process may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout our organisation. Alternatively, should the successful candidate decline or vacate the advertised position, the next most suitable candidate may be selected from this process. Both options remain valid for a period of six (6) months (unless otherwise stated) from the completion date of the initial selection process.
