About the Job

The Public Transport Authority’s (PTA) vision is to be recognised as a leader in providing world-class public transport services and solutions.  As a fast growing economy, Western Australia’s public transport system is recognised as the best in Australia and is one of the most efficient, clean and safe networks in the world.  Rail transport is vital for our continued success and growth through our many projects including METRONET to meet the public’s needs and expectations.  Moving millions of people needs the skill and commitment of a talented workforce.

You will be working in the Division responsible for delivering the METRONET’s high value and high complex major transport projects. As one of the largest single investments in public transport the city has seen, METRONET will help positively change how people live and travel in Perth.

The Role

The Project Officer (engineering) provides support to the PTA Engineering team to deliver projects as they transition from the design and construction phases through to asset handover stage.

The role supports the Coordinating Project Engineer in compiling the list of engineering deliverables required through the project lifecycle, manages the flow of engineering information coming to the PTA and follows up the closeout of engineering deliverables reviewed by the engineering team.

Who we are looking for

As the Project Officer will be predominantly working in the Engineering team, we are looking for candidates with demonstrated experience coordinating infrastructure development projects and who possess knowledge of basic engineer principles.

You will need strong communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders at all levels and external contractors to provide effective feedback to the team. You will work closely with the Engineering and Project Managers and assist with design and design verification activities, therefore a general understanding of design and project management is essential. The PTA’s engineering assurance processes require the Project Officer (Engineering) to have excellent communication and organisation skills in order to implement the engineering administration necessary for the PTA to fulfill its obligations under Rail Safety National Law.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months from which fixed term appointments up to 3 years with the possibility of extensions may be made.

The PTA is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
