About the Job

The Public Transport Authority’s (PTA) vision is to be recognised as a leader in providing world-class public transport services and solutions.  As a fast growing economy, Western Australia’s public transport system is recognised as the best in Australia and is one of the most efficient, clean and safe networks in the world.  Rail transport is vital for our continued success and growth through our many projects including METRONET to meet the public’s needs and expectations.  Moving millions of people needs the skill and commitment of a talented workforce.

About this opportunity

We are looking to establish a pool to suitable candidates to fill the positions of Signal Maintainers.

As an experienced Signal Maintainer, you will perform a wide range of tasks associated with the ongoing maintenance of our power/mechanical signalling equipment and protected level crossing systems across the urban metropolitan rail network.

As part of a large organisation in a rapidly-growing sector, we offer excellent job security and stability, and our commitment to providing a reliable service for our passengers means you will have the opportunity to contribute to a public service that many West Australians interact with on a daily basis.

We pride ourselves on our friendly and professional working environment and offer our staff a range of benefits, and opportunities for further development and training through our Registered Training Organisation.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months from which permanent and fixed term appointments will be made.

The Role

This is a great opportunity for experienced Signal Maintainers wishing to continue their career in the rail industry with a leading provider of public transport in Australia.

With relevant signal maintenance competence and experience in a rail environment, you will also have sound mechanical aptitude (including proficiency in using and operating relevant hand and power tools, machinery and equipment) and a willingness to participate in ongoing development and training.  Sound literacy, numeracy, communication and computer skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team are also important in this role. It is also essential that you have a current unrestricted C Class WA driver’s licence, current accreditation in Working at Heights and Working in Confined Spaces and a Construction Industry White Card.

For appointment at Level 4, you will also have exposure to supervising a team and can demonstrate the skills to lead and supervise others.

Your commencement salary/level will be dependent on your skills, competence and experience.

Please note that we are also advertising for Trainee Signal Maintainers and your application may also be considered for these positions.
