A unique and exciting opportunity is currently available for a suitably experienced and enthusiastic Director Medical Services to join our Midwest team.
This is a fixed term full time appointment for 5 years with possibility of extension(s).

Position Profile: In this role, you will provide day to day operational management of medical services at Geraldton Hospital as required. You will ensure and support Medical Clinical Governance at Geraldton Hospital and participate in continuous quality improvement within the Hospital. You will also provide support to the Director Medical Services (Regional) – Midwest in implementing WACHS-Midwest strategic directions and establish and maintain collaborative and functional relationships with Contracted Clinical Service Providers to ensure seamless and timely clinical care.

It incorporates four health districts - Gascoyne, Geraldton, Midwest and Murchison. It covers more than 600,000 square kilometres, nearly one quarter of the State, with its population concentrated along the coast. The region supports a wide range of industry, including mining, agriculture, aquaculture and tourism. Geraldton is the largest town north of Perth and one of the most attractive coastal centres in Western Australia. It is both a seaside resort and an important port. It offers beachside living alongside rural life as well as a wide range of recreational, shopping and educational facilities.
WACHS is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometres. The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health across rural and remote Western Australia.

Suitable candidates must be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA), have recognised clinical experience and/or postgraduate qualifications commensurate with clinical duties and medical administration role as well as experience in a senior management role in the health sector, preferable in a hospital environment.
