The Opportunity;
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual for the Team Leader role to join the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage in our Aboriginal Heritage Operations team within the Heritage and Property Services Division. If you have an interest in Aboriginal heritage and the skills and experience with the ability to build positive and productive relationships, we encourage you to apply.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the team undertaking project work relating to site assessments, assessment of applications, high level of advice to stakeholders, and associated Aboriginal Heritage matters. You will also provide advice on the requirements of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972, relevant policy and standards to a varied audience and provide technical and professional input to the assessment and application process. You will collaborate with the Director Aboriginal Heritage Operations regarding applications, develop partnerships and supports across government planning in relation to the Department’s core business areas.
This is a permanent full-time appointment, however consideration may be given to applicants seeking part-time opportunities.
Suitable applicants may be considered for appointment to similar (permanent, fixed term, full-time or part-time) vacancies for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate;
- Experience in providing a high level of research and analysis, preparing detailed reports and delivering advice on a range of heritage matters in a timely manner, including statutory applications.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 with the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders on matters relating to the Act.
- Experience and ability to proactively develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to negotiate good heritage outcomes.
- Experience in leading and coordinating a team of people, through strong leadership and communication skills, whilst providing training and development opportunities.
