Conditions
This is for 1 (one) full time, permanent
Head of Department Aquatic Zoology Specified Calling Level 3 as well as running a Pool. We are also seeking to establish a Pool for Curator Marine Invertebrate Zoology Specified Calling Level 2 to fill any vacancies that may arise over the pool period.

These Pools will run for a period of 18 months from the initial appointment. Applicants deemed suitable will be placed into one or both pools where appointments may be considered for similar vacancies for full-time, part-time, casual, fixed term or permanency.

Job Description/s

As the Head of Department, Aquatic Zoology position 14426, you will have the responsibility for collection development and management, and, research and education functions pertaining to designated groups or fields within the Department of Aquatic Zoology. The position is expected to promote electronic delivery of information regarding the environment and the systematics of Aquatic Zoology collections. This position is also responsible for delivering the content, concepts and objects for exhibitions.

To be considered for the Head of Department Aquatic Zoology position, you must possess the following:

  • A bachelor degree or higher level qualification in a relevant field of biological sciences to be considered for this position. All overseas qualifications must have been assessed for Australian equivalency.
  • A Scientific Diving qualification.
  • A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.
  • A current Senior First Aid Certificate.

As the Curator Marine Invertebrate Zoology, you will have responsibility for the care of the Marine Invertebrate Zoology collection. This involves promoting the Museum's science, undertaking research; including attracting external funds for research activities, contributing to public exhibitions aimed at promoting learning and understanding of marine, freshwater and terrestrial environments, and developing of collaborations with academic institutions and allied government departments. The position is expected to promote electronic delivery of information about the environment and systematics of taxon groups of Western Australian marine invertebrates.
