The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health service in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, over a vast 2.5 million square kilometres area.  WA Country Health Service hospitals provide a variety of health care services including primary health care, emergency and hospital services, population health, mental health, indigenous health and aged care. Our dedicated and committed staff work hard to fulfil our purpose of 'working together for a healthier country WA', to deliver health services that support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities in rural and remote Western Australia.    The WA Country Health Service consists of seven regions across WA with Central Office located in Perth.

Qualifications/Professional Registration: Registered with or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a medical practitioner

Position Profile: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is seeking highly motivated dynamic clinicians with an interest in rural and remote medicine. Salaried and contract employment opportunities for qualified medical practitioners of varying skills and experience are available across regional Western Australia.

Remuneration packages for salaried positions are based on skills and experience with competitive salary arrangements including: generous salary packaging, leave entitlements, gratuity payments, superannuation, allowances, specialist peer support, sponsorship support for Temporary Business (long stay) visa (subclass 457) if required, and professional indemnity insurance cover.

Ideally, you will have experience working in the rural health sector, with clients from a variety of cultural/ethnic backgrounds and an understanding of remote area health service provision. Emergency medicine skills will be highly regarded. Generally, skills in the management of medical emergencies are essential.

Qualified medical practitioners working in private practice (or who wish to work in private practice) who may be seeking to work within WA rural and remote locations and are interested in a contractual arrangement with WACHS rather than employment as salaried officers are also encouraged to apply. Procedural qualifications in Anaesthetics and/or Obstetrics and/or emergency medicine experience are desirable. Financial incentive packages available for specific regions.

Overseas trained doctors who are considering work in Australia are also encouraged to apply and should refer to www.doctorconnect.gov.au for information and direction on registering, qualifying and working in Australia as a medical practitioner.

1. Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner

2. Ten years or more experience as a Medical Practitioner

3. Relevant post graduate qualifications / demonstrates proactive career progression / currently engaged in relevant Australian training pathway

4. Relevant skills and experience to work in rural and remote WA as an independent senior practitioner.
