This recruitment pool will run for a period of twelve (12) months and may be used to fill ongoing fixed term contracts and permanent opportunities.

Currently, there are two (2) permanent positions available for immediate filling.

About the role

The role of this position is to:

• Conduct clinical interviews with sentenced prisoners to assess treatment suitability, responsivity factors and sequencing of interventions.
• Administer, score and interpret psychometric assessment tools to determine risk of recidivism and treatment needs for sentenced prisoners.
• Prepare treatment assessment reports within designated timeframes, for inclusion in offenders’ individual management plans.

Suitability Requirements

• Professional integrity - motivated to engage in continual professional development, accountability and self-reflective practices.
• Knowledge - Knowledge of offender assessment and treatment methods and models in adult offender rehabilitation.
• Communication and interpersonal skills - Demonstrated understanding/knowledge of effective interviewing and capacity to elicit information in a strategic manner.
• Planning and Organisation - Able to exercise effective and efficient planning and organisational skills within the assessment centre and in conjunction with the daily operation of the facility. Plan, prioritise and organise works tasks to achieve goals within determined timeframes.
• Conceptual and Analytical - Capacity to conceptualise and utilise analytical skills in the assessment of individuals’ needs and situations.
• Cultural Sensitivity - Objectively acknowledge and appreciate a breadth of cultural, social and personal differences and peculiarities.

Eligibility

Successful applicants must possess:

• An accredited qualification in Psychology and eligibility for general registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 

Or

• An approved Social Work qualification and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). 

Or

• An approved four (4) year Behavioural Science degree.

To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the Western Australian Public Sector, you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.

To be eligible for fixed term appointments, you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the duration of the contract.

Pool Recruitment

This pool will be open for a period of twelve (12) months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.

The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies at any prison location across the state for the duration of the pool.
