The Department of Communities is seeking experienced and committed Team Leaders/Team Managers to provide operational and professional leadership across child protection, children in care and family support service delivery.

Reporting to the District Director or other senior leaders, this role is responsible for leading a district-based team, supervising complex statutory casework, and ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with the Children and Community Services Act 2004. The position plays a critical role in safeguarding the safety, wellbeing and development of vulnerable children and supporting families across Western Australia.

As a Team Leader Child Safety you will work in the areas of child protection, children in care and family support and is responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Lead and manage a District child protection team, responding to concerns about children's safety and wellbeing and overseeing intervention actions under the Children and Community Services Act 2004.
  • Supervise and support case workers in delivering child protection and case management services to children in care and their families, including complex casework and care planning forums.
  • Manage team operations, resources and workload allocation, while ensuring quality assurance of case management records and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to District planning and service delivery, maintain practice standards through collaboration with stakeholders, and support the ongoing learning and development of team members.

As a Team Manager Child Safety you will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Contributing to the planning and management of District activities and promotes sound innovative and responsible casework and community work practice.
  • Managing team resources, assign tasks and ensures equitable distribution of workload within the team.
  • Quality assurance and quality improvement functions within a team and provides reports.
  • Supervising and supports team members and liaises with other team leaders, Senior Practice Development Officer and Senior Advisors to ensure sound practice standards and provides learning and development opportunities for the team.
  • Convening and chairs planning forums.
