About the Role:

You will lead a technical team responsible for the maintenance, repair, testing and quality assurance of specialised biomedical and scientific equipment. Combining hands-on technical work with operational leadership, you will ensure maintenance activities are prioritised according to clinical risk and services are delivered efficiently, safely and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supporting technical staff, coordinating workloads and monitoring team performance to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Performing and overseeing fault diagnosis, repairs, safety checks, performance testing and quality assurance of specialised medical and scientific equipment.
  • Providing technical guidance, resolving complex equipment issues and coordinating external vendor maintenance activities.

  • Managing equipment inventories and contributing to clinical engineering projects, including equipment evaluation, procurement and technology integration.
  • Mentoring staff, delivering technical training and identifying opportunities to improve maintenance practices, equipment performance and service quality.

The role also requires participation in emergency call-back and rostered after-hours services, including support for critical care, emergency and disaster response.

About You

You are a technically skilled and proactive leader who can balance hands-on problem-solving with operational priorities. You bring sound judgement, strong communication skills and a commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • A Diploma of Engineering (Biomedical, Electronic or Mechanical), Science or a relevant equivalent qualification, together with business practice or management qualifications, or relevant management experience.

  • Leadership and management skills, including the ability to coordinate workloads, support staff and resolve operational issues.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, organisational and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant equal opportunity, disability services and work health and safety obligations, and their application to employment and service delivery.
  • An understanding of continuous quality improvement and risk management, with the ability to evaluate and improve services to meet customer needs.

A relevant bachelor's degree or higher qualification, significant experience with biomedical equipment and supporting technologies in a hospital environment, and practical experience with quality management systems and risk management will be highly regarded.

If you have the technical expertise, leadership capability and commitment to equipment safety and reliability to support essential clinical services, we encourage you to apply.
