The Role

As a Year Coordinator at Ridge View SC, you will ideally be a visible and approachable team member who works collaboratively with the SWAE team, College staff and families to support a safe, inclusive and connected school environment. Suitable applicants should exhibit a student-centred approach and the capacity to support the wellbeing, engagement and success of students within their cohorts.

The role includes providing pastoral support and contributing to approaches that support student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and engagement. Working alongside the SWAE Program Coordinator, suitable applicants should be responsive to students requiring additional support, including working with individuals and small groups, maintaining positive communication with families and staff and contributing to the development and review of individual support plans and interventions.

Suitable applicants should also contribute to a positive school culture through wellbeing initiatives, assemblies, reward events and recognition processes that celebrate student success. Experience with restorative and trauma-informed approaches will be highly regarded, along with the ability to strengthen relationships, resolve conflict and respond calmly and effectively to challenging situations, including de-escalating and supporting students, families and staff.

Strong written and oral communication, organisational and record-keeping skills are highly desirable, along with the ability to build collaborative working relationships, manage competing priorities and apply relevant school and Department policies and processes. Previous experience in student wellbeing and engagement will be highly regarded, as will knowledge of or training in Classroom Management Strategies (CMS), Positive Behaviour Support (WA PBS) and trauma-informed practice.

Year Coordinators currently support cohorts across a two-year cycle (Years 7–8, 9–10 and 11–12), with a 0.4 FTE teaching load and allocated non-teaching time for Year Coordinator responsibilities. As the role is supported through this time allocation, there is no additional Special Responsibility Allowance (SRA). The structure may continue to evolve as the College grows.
