The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and engaging Science teacher, ideally with the capacity to teach Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Physics and Chemistry, who is passionate about improving student outcomes and inspiring curiosity about the world around us.

The successful applicant will ideally deliver high-quality, inclusive Science programs that encourage students to investigate, question, and apply scientific knowledge to real-world contexts. They should have contemporary pedagogical practice, effective classroom management, and a commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of learning needs.

The Science Learning Area plays a pivotal role in developing students' scientific literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. The successful applicant would contribute to the schools in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) priorities by designing authentic and engaging learning experiences that promote inquiry, innovation, and collaboration. They should inspire students to pursue future pathways in STEM while fostering the transferable skills required for success in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.

The ability to teach Science across a range of secondary year levels is ideal. Applicants with curriculum expertise in Physics and Chemistry will be highly regarded. Experience teaching senior secondary courses, preparing students for external assessments, and contributing to STEM initiatives, competitions, clubs, or enrichment programs will be viewed favourably. The successful applicant should work collaboratively within the Science team, contribute to whole-school improvement priorities, and actively support a culture of high expectations and academic excellence.

The successful applicant will ideally have the capacity to:

• Deliver high-quality Science programs aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum.
• Inspire students to develop scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Differentiate teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Use student achievement data to inform planning and improve learning outcomes.
• Establish and maintain positive and productive learning environments.
• Work collaboratively within the Science Learning Area and contribute to whole-school priorities.
• Participate in professional learning and reflective practice to continually improve teaching effectiveness.

The successful applicant will ideally be an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and could build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the wider community. They should contribute to a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement, supporting the school's commitment to improving outcomes for all students
