- Early Childhood, School and Specialist Education Teachers
We are seeking to establish a pool of Primary Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
We anticipate a number of positions will be available from the commencement of the 2027 school year due to staff secondments and leave arrangements. Opportunities may include classroom teaching positions across Early Childhood Education, middle and upper primary, as well as specialist roles in Physical Education and Learning Support/Student Services coordination.
Newton Primary School has been part of the Spearwood community since 1981, when the school first opened with 156 students. Today, we are a vibrant Kindergarten to Year 6 school of approximately 330 students, proud of our history and excited about our future. Located on Marvell Avenue, around 10 kilometres south of Fremantle, Newton sits within a community with strong local roots.
Our school community is wonderfully diverse, with students and families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. We are also proud to welcome second-generation Newton families, with many parents choosing for their children the same school they attended themselves.

The Role
As a teacher at Newton Primary School, you will ideally bring a flexible, enthusiastic and child-centred approach and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a supportive team. Suitable applicants should share our commitment to the school’s C.A.R.E. values – Cooperation, Achievement, Responsibility and Endeavour – and contribute positively to student wellbeing, pastoral care and restorative behaviour practices.
Sound knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum is highly regarded, along with experience in integrated and differentiated planning. Strong Information and Communications Technology (ICT) skills and the ability to effectively integrate digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning are highly desirable.
Knowledge and application of high-impact teaching strategies, including Daily Reviews and phonics-based approaches, are also highly desirable. Suitable applicants will ideally display sound organisational skills, an ability to respond to individual student needs and a commitment to creating engaging and inclusive learning environments.
At Newton Primary School, we value collaboration and provide opportunities for staff to develop their professional interests and capabilities. Suitable applicants will ideally enjoy contributing to our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), sharing ideas and working alongside teachers and education assistants to support positive outcomes for students. Our staff are supported by an engaged school community, including families, the School Board and P&C, who value and contribute to the school’s direction.
Experience in coordinating programs, supporting colleagues or contributing to whole-school initiatives would be highly regarded. Leadership experience is not essential, as we are seeking to fill a number of roles across the school. Applicants with leadership experience, aspiring leaders keen to further develop their capabilities, and graduate teachers are all encouraged to apply.
