The School
Aspire. Connect. Enrich.
Bertram Primary School (PS) is a dynamic and inclusive Independent Public School located in Perth's southern suburbs, catering for approximately 680 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school is entering an exciting phase of growth and improvement, guided by our vision to ensure every student is known, challenged and supported to thrive.
Our work is centred on three strategic pillars:
Aspire – High expectations, strong foundations and growth for every student.
Connect – Strong relationships, belonging and genuine partnerships.
Enrich – Opportunity, creativity, culture and possibility.
We are proud of our culturally and linguistically diverse community and are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive learning environment where all students experience success.
At Bertram PS, we believe in high-quality teaching, strong relationships, collective responsibility and providing rich learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. We value educators who are reflective, collaborative, innovative and committed to making a positive difference. Our commitment to enriching student experiences includes providing meaningful opportunities in the arts, technologies, sport, languages and creative pursuits. The establishment of a dedicated music program is an important part of this direction.
The successful applicant will join a supportive and forward-thinking team that values professional growth, initiative and collaboration. They will have the opportunity to contribute their expertise and help shape a music program that reflects the strengths, diversity and aspirations of our school community.
At Bertram PS, we are not simply looking to introduce music lessons. We are looking to build a musical culture that will grow and flourish for years to come.

The Role
Are you a passionate and innovative music educator ready to build something special?
Bertram PS is ideally seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and creative Music Teacher to establish and lead a vibrant, engaging and sustainable whole-school music program.
This is an exciting opportunity for an educator with vision, initiative and a genuine passion for music education to shape a program from the ground up. We are looking for someone who can inspire a love of music in our students, build their musical knowledge and skills, and create opportunities for them to discover, develop and celebrate their talents.
The successful applicant would design and deliver a high-quality, sequential music program aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum, providing engaging and inclusive learning experiences across the primary years. They should have the capacity to establish strong foundations in music education while developing a longer-term vision for music at Bertram PS.
We are particularly interested in applicants who could bring energy, creativity and leadership to the role, with the ability to explore and develop opportunities such as choirs, instrumental music, ensembles, performances and community events as the program grows.
The successful applicant will ideally display:
- Strong curriculum knowledge and effective teaching practices that engage students of diverse abilities, backgrounds and musical experience.
- The capacity to plan, implement and evaluate a sequential music program that builds students' skills, confidence, creativity and enjoyment.
- Initiative, organisational skills and a clear vision for establishing and progressively developing a whole-school music program.
- The ability to identify and nurture student talents while ensuring music is accessible, enjoyable and inclusive for all students.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, families and the wider community.
- A willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school through performances, celebrations, collaborative projects and enrichment opportunities.
We are seeking someone who ideally sees music as more than a curriculum area. We would like an educator who recognises its power to build confidence, creativity, connection and belonging, and who is excited by the opportunity to make music an integral and celebrated part of our school culture.
