The Role
We are seeking a passionate Languages teacher with expertise in Japanese, Indonesian or Noongar, who is also willing to teach across other learning areas as required.
We are looking for someone who is committed to continually improving their practice and is open to professional learning and development opportunities. Ideally, you will create a supportive and positive classroom environment, display effective interpersonal skills and work collaboratively as part of a team. You should be able to deliver innovative and engaging teaching and learning programs that inspire and motivate students.
Our school’s vision for Languages is to provide vibrant and inclusive learning environments that foster a passion for language and an appreciation of different cultures. We aim to work collaboratively with our intake primary schools to build a seamless approach to learning languages other than English and ensure every student has the opportunity to explore languages that interest them.
Every teacher at Newton Moore SHS has an important role in supporting our vision of strong, respectful relationships and effective curriculum delivery. We particularly value applicants with experience teaching Languages in their specialist language area. Ideally, you will have a sound understanding of the developmental needs of students across all phases of the Western Australian Curriculum, with the ability to differentiate learning to meet the diverse academic needs of language students.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Newton Moore Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
