The School

Dampier Primary School (PS) is a proud Independent Public-School catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6). Our school is a small learning community situated in the heart of the Pilbara flanked by the red dirt and the pristine waters of the Dampier Archipelago.

As a school we are immensely proud of our people, our programs and our progress. We believe it is the people at Dampier, and our shared commitment towards providing an optimal education for all students, which helps make it such a special place. The strength of the school lies in its happy and hardworking students, its talented and dedicated staff, and its generous and capable parent community.

Our staff are passionate about student learning and work collaboratively across year levels to improve the educational outcomes of all students.

Find out more about our school by visiting www.dampier.wa.edu.au or Schools Online.

The Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and highly effective K–6 teachers who have exceptional interpersonal skills and can build genuine, respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the wider school community.

At Dampier PS, teachers are committed to delivering high-quality teaching while prioritising student wellbeing. Suitable applicants will ideally display a strong commitment to evidence-based practice by implementing our whole-school programs, agreed pedagogical approaches, and collaborative planning processes to maximise student achievement.

Suitable applicants should create positive, inclusive learning environments where high expectations, strong relationships, and a growth mindset enable every student to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. They will ideally be reflective practitioners who actively contribute to school improvement priorities, embrace professional learning, and work collaboratively to improve outcomes for all students. The ability to differentiate the curriculum and implement effective, innovative teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners is highly desirable.

We value teachers who possess an exemplary classroom practice, a genuine passion for education, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The ability to work collaboratively within a connected whole-school culture, contribute positively to team planning, and engage in ongoing professional growth is highly regarded.

Dampier PS implements a consistent, evidence-informed approach to teaching and learning through Literacy and Numeracy Blocks incorporating Shaping Minds engagement norms and daily reviews, Learning Through Doing Mathematics, UFLI Foundations synthetic phonics, Talk for Writing, Word Origins, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Berry Street Education Model strategies, and a whole-school approach to Health education. Experience with these programs or similar evidence-based approaches is desirable but not essential, as professional learning and support will be provided.

We welcome applications from teachers who aspire to develop their leadership capability. Dampier PS provides opportunities for future leadership, including middle leadership roles, within a supportive school culture and the broader Karratha network of public schools. Applicants who are eager to contribute beyond their classroom and grow as educational leaders are encouraged to apply.
