Hillman Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Teacher Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Hillman PS is seeking applicants who pursue excellence in teaching. Our vision for teaching and learning, which guides our instructional approach, focuses on teachers having high expectations, being collaborative and student-focused, using evidence-based approaches and developing supportive learning environments. Suitable applicants should be committed to putting students first in your decision making and undertaking the hard work that is inherent in adhering to whole school approaches.

You will ideally possess a high level of curriculum knowledge and focus on evidence-based instructional practices to deliver excellent outcomes for all students. Suitable applicants should be committed to continuous self-improvement, developed through self-reflection, collaboration and responding to feedback.

You will ideally have experience in working in collaborative teams and value processes that utilise student data to measure student learning and the impact of teaching. We are currently working on embedding our whole school instructional framework, which is aligned to the Department of Education Quality Teaching Framework and Teaching for Impact. Strong instructional knowledge, connected to these systemic priorities, will be highly desirable.

Delivering an orderly learning environment, through a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework will be important to the role. Our matrix encourages children to achieve our core values of “Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Relationships”. Applicants are encouraged to display how they manage students with challenging behaviours in ways that preserve the integrity of the child. Our students are supported in their social and emotional wellbeing using evidence-based approaches, including the Zones of Regulation program. Suitable applicants should be culturally responsive, and possess the ability to cater for students with additional needs and have understanding and experience in Students At Educational Risk (SAER).

Suitable applicants would also need to be prepared to contribute to, reflect on and review whole school approaches, and work towards addressing the targets set in our school’s business plan. We are currently focusing on sustaining our whole school approaches, such as, InitiaLit in Kindergarten to Year 2 (K-2)  and the SmartWords Spelling program in Years 3 to 6. We are working towards establishing consistent whole school approaches in Reading and Writing.
