We are seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Nulsen Primary School (PS) is a vibrant and inclusive K–6 school located in Esperance on Western Australia’s spectacular south coast. Our school serves a diverse community and is committed to ensuring every student is known, supported and provided with the opportunity to succeed.

At Nulsen PS, relationships are at the heart of our work. We have built a strong, supportive school culture where staff work collaboratively, students benefit from clear and consistent expectations, and the individual strengths and needs of our learners are recognised.

Our school community is diverse, with a significant proportion of Aboriginal students and students with additional learning, disability, behavioural and social-emotional needs. We see this diversity as both an important responsibility and an opportunity to make a genuine difference. We are committed to culturally responsive practice and continue to strengthen our partnerships with families, community organisations and local Aboriginal organisations.

Nulsen PS has established strong whole-school approaches to teaching, intervention, behaviour and student support. Our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) provides a framework for identifying student need and responding with increasing levels of support, while our teaching and learning approaches place a strong emphasis on explicit instruction, evidence-informed practice, assessment and responsive intervention.

Teachers are supported through collaborative planning, professional learning, coaching and an increasingly strong distributed leadership model. We value consistency across the school while recognising the professional expertise and strengths that each teacher brings to our team.

The Role

We are seeking enthusiastic, adaptable and committed teachers to join the Nulsen PS team in 2027.

Our teachers understand that high expectations and strong relationships go hand in hand. They create safe, predictable and engaging classrooms where students know what is expected, experience success and are supported to become increasingly confident and independent learners.

Suitable applicants will ideally display strengths across the following areas:

  • High-quality teaching — using explicit, evidence-informed teaching practices and assessment to plan responsive learning experiences.
  • Positive classroom environments — establishing clear routines, high expectations and consistent approaches that support engagement, regulation and learning.
  • Differentiation and inclusive practice — responding effectively to a broad range of academic, behavioural, disability and social-emotional needs.
  • Relationships — developing respectful and positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and the wider school community.
  • Collaboration — contributing actively to year-level, cluster and whole-school planning and being willing to learn with and from colleagues.
  • Cultural responsiveness — demonstrating a commitment to strengthening knowledge and practice in Aboriginal education and building culturally safe learning environments.
  • Reflective practice — using student data, feedback, professional learning and reflection to continually strengthen teaching practice.
  • Contribution beyond the classroom — bringing individual strengths, interests and expertise to the broader life and improvement journey of the school.

We particularly value teachers who are flexible, solution-focused and willing to work as part of a team. Teaching at Nulsen requires the capacity to respond calmly and consistently when students experience challenges, while maintaining high expectations for learning and behaviour.

Applicants do not need to arrive knowing every Nulsen program or approach. We are looking for teachers with strong foundations, a willingness to learn and the capacity to implement agreed whole-school practices consistently. Support, professional learning and opportunities to develop expertise are an important part of joining our team.
