The Role

As a HASS Teacher you would participate as an integral member of the HASS learning area and be responsible for supporting a collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the students and school community and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your delivery. As such, the successful applicant will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics.

The successful applicant should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and able to teach students of varying ability levels across Years 7-12 in a highly engaging manner. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of one or more Senior Secondary HASS courses is highly desirable. 

As a HASS teacher at Busselton SHS, you should have proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team to plan, implement, develop, review and deliver effective HASS curriculum and teaching and learning programs, ideally having strong experience with differentiation for all students. The capacity to engage in the development and implementation of innovative classroom practices, including integration of information technology into the curriculum, will be highly regarded. Familiarity with the BSHS Instructional Framework, including participation norms, daily reviews and the explicit use of Learning Objectives and Success Criteria, will also be highly valued.

The successful applicant should be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, reflective, and innovative. You should have a firm belief that all students can learn and reach their potential to achieve their highest educational outcomes. Adopting inclusive practices, building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
