This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027

Waroona District High School (DHS) is a small yet distinctive Independent Public School that places the needs of our students at the centre of all that we do. Our vision is for Waroona DHS to be the school of choice in the local community.

At Waroona DHS, we pride ourselves on our unique and supportive learning environment. Being a District High School we are in the unique position of being able to offer students an educational journey that commences in Kindergarten and continues in the same school until the end of Year 10. Consequently, our school is highly supportive and safe for students who are able to form quality relationships with staff and their peers over their K-10 educational journey.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed High School English Teacher to join our team.

The successful applicant should display a strong understanding of the Department of Education's Teaching for Impact framework and a commitment to high-impact, evidence-based instruction. Applicants with knowledge of explicit teaching practices, including structured lesson design, daily review, guided practice and checking for understanding, will be highly regarded. The ability to utilise student achievement data to inform planning, monitor progress and adapt instruction to meet student needs is valued.

We are ideally seeking an applicant who can contribute positively to a consistent whole-school approach to instruction through the use of clear learning intentions, explicit vocabulary instruction and high levels of student engagement. Experience using engagement norms and daily reviews to promote active participation, thinking and discussion would be highly desirable as Waroona DHS has embarked on an improvement journey that has embedded these pedagogical approaches into our teaching and learning framework.

Experience in differentiating the curriculum to meet diverse learning needs and a track record of positive outcomes for students requiring additional support will be viewed favourably.

The successful applicant should possess exceptional interpersonal skills which enable them to contribute positively to a collaborative staff culture and build strong relationships with students and parents. A commitment to maintaining a positive classroom culture, where high expectations, belonging, engagement and student success are at the forefront, is ideal. The successful applicant should also have effective classroom management strategies that promote positive behaviour and support learning.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated educator to make a meaningful impact within a supportive, collaborative and community-focused school, while contributing to Waroona DHS's ongoing improvement journey.
