The Role

We are ideally seeking an enthusiastic and motivated teacher with a passion for teaching English at the secondary level and a solid understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum. Experience in teaching a range of abilities, such as General English, low literacy and extension pathways, is highly desirable.

The English team is very welcoming and supportive; the successful applicant should be a team-player, possess excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy collaborating with other teachers. You should contribute to the positive culture by collaborative curriculum planning, coordinating a learning program and leading teachers of the year level you coordinate in assessment moderation and resource sharing.

As a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school, the ability to build positive relationships and establish rapport with a wide range of students, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, is essential. The successful applicant should be flexible with their delivery and ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students and differentiate coursework for a variety of learning needs, including trauma informed practice and neurodivergent students. We highly value applicants who excel at creating and maintaining a supportive and safe learning environment through confident use of classroom management strategies.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work and teach in a team environment and should be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives, such as the development of daily reviews and use of engagement norms, and have a strong evidence-based approach to teaching.
