The School

Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is one of the largest and fastest growing secondary schools in Western Australia, with more than 2,400 students across Years 7 to 12, approximately 180 teaching staff and 70 support staff. The Role

We are ideally seeking an accomplished English teacher to join our English learning area from Term 1, 2027 in a permanent position.

You will join a team of over 20 English teachers delivering the Western Australian Curriculum across Years 7 to 12, including a large senior school ATAR cohort. The learning area works closely together on planning, curriculum development, moderation and the analysis of student achievement data. New staff, whether graduate or experienced, are supported through a comprehensive induction, and every teacher is provided with a school laptop.

We are ideally seeking an educator who:

• Delivers a rigorous English curriculum that builds students' literacy, analytical thinking, creativity, and written, oral and multimodal communication skills.
• Inspires students to engage critically and creatively with a diverse range of literary, media and multimodal texts.
• Designs inclusive, student-centred learning that responds to students' strengths and learning needs.
• Uses formative and summative assessment, achievement data and targeted feedback to drive sustained improvement.
• Embraces our school-wide pedagogical approach, including explicit instruction and high-impact teaching strategies.
• Contributes to pastoral care, co-curricular opportunities and the collaborative work of the learning area, and models our values of Care, Respect, Responsibility and Excellence.

Experience teaching senior secondary ATAR English is highly desirable. We also welcome applications from teachers who are ready to move into ATAR English with the support of an experienced team.

Depending on your experience and interests, there is scope to contribute to co-curricular English activities such as debating, public speaking, creative writing, literary competitions and enrichment programs.
