We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Burbridge School is situated 15 km north of Perth in the suburb of Koondoola and provides individualised diverse and innovative learning programs for students in Kindergarten to Year 12.

We cater for students with moderate to severe disabilities and complex, multifaceted support needs. These may include severe autism, intellectual disability, behavioural challenges, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and significant medical needs, requiring staff who are skilled, compassionate, and committed to inclusive education. All students experience communication difficulties, with most being Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users. Assistive technologies and intensive adult support are key components of our individualised teaching and learning programs.

Our small class sizes, specialist teachers and education assistants provide targeted support through a differentiated curriculum aligned with the WA Curriculum and ABLEWA. Individual Education Plans are developed collaboratively with families to meet each student’s needs and goals.

Our students benefit from purpose-built, specialist facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, gymnasium, enterprise gardens, library, medical room, kitchen with both regular and switch adapted appliances, light and dark multi-sensory room, and a life skills centre. The Role

Suitable applicants should display the ability to plan, deliver and assess high-quality, differentiated teaching and learning programs that meet the diverse educational, behavioural, communication and social needs of students with disabilities. They will ideally be confident in using a range of assessment strategies, including standardised and teacher-developed tools, to monitor student progress, inform teaching practice and report achievement against individual learning goals and curriculum outcomes.

Suitable applicants will ideally create engaging, inclusive and supportive learning environments that promote student participation, wellbeing, independence and achievement. They will ideally utilise explicit teaching practices, evidence-based interventions such as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Training, TEACCH and effective classroom management strategies to maximise learning outcomes for all students.

Teachers at Burbridge School work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to design, implement and review educational programs. Suitable applicants should be committed to collaborative planning, reflective practice and continuous improvement, while contributing positively to whole-school curriculum policies and programs in English, Maths and Health and Wellbeing (e.g. Protective Behaviours Education, Positive Behaviour Support and Mobility programs).

A key aspect of the role is the effective leadership and management of Education Assistants to ensure cohesive, responsive and student-centred classroom practices. Applicants should ideally be able to provide clear direction, build positive working relationships and support a team approach to student learning and wellbeing.

Suitable applicants would also work closely with families, allied health professionals and external agencies to develop and implement individualised programs that support students across all areas of development. Knowledge and understanding of a broad range of disabilities, communication needs and positive behaviour support strategies will be highly regarded.
