The Role
The successful applicant will ideally be a highly skilled and passionate early childhood educator who places students at the heart of their practice and holds high expectations for every student. They should have a deep understanding of how young children learn and develop, and display the capacity to thoughtfully blend explicit instruction with intentional, purposeful play, creating engaging learning environments that build strong foundations while fostering curiosity, independence, creativity and a love of learning.
The successful applicant should display strong knowledge of contemporary early childhood pedagogy and the capacity to translate key system and sector frameworks into high-quality classroom practice, including the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines, Western Australian Curriculum, Teaching for Impact and the National Quality Standard (NQS). Their practice would draw on evidence-based, high-impact instructional approaches, including explicit teaching and the science of learning, while recognising the distinctive developmental needs of young learners. They will ideally use observation, assessment and student data purposefully to understand individual learners, monitor progress, differentiate teaching and evaluate the impact of their practice.
We are seeking an educator who is reflective, responsive and committed to continuous improvement. The successful applicant would work collaboratively with colleagues to plan, moderate and strengthen teaching practice; contribute positively to whole-school approaches and our improvement agenda; and build strong, respectful partnerships with students, families and the wider school community. They should value collective efficacy, willingly contribute their expertise to the work of others, and play an active role in the positive, professional and collaborative culture of Rosalie PS.
