This is a permanent part-time (0.7 FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2027
Mount Barker Community College is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Design and Technology teacher to lead our Engineering program in the Trade Training Centre alongside our technology courses in the college.
Located in Western Australia’s Great Southern region, Mount Barker offers an exceptional lifestyle surrounded by natural beauty, with easy access to national parks and coastal attractions including Albany and Denmark. The Role
The Technologies Teacher will ideally provide high-quality teaching across the College’s Technologies, Engineering and Metalwork programs, with specific responsibility for the coordination and delivery of the Certificate II in Engineering. The role will provide students with practical, industry-relevant learning experiences that support pathways into further training, apprenticeships and employment. The successful applicant will demonstrate sound knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and the ability to plan and deliver engaging learning programs that meet the diverse needs of students.
The teacher will oversee the effective operation and use of the Trade Training Centre, Engineering and Metalwork facilities, including equipment, resources, workshop practices and safety requirements. The role requires an ability to build positive, respectful and productive relationships with students, staff, industry and training providers, and to create a learning environment where students feel supported, engaged and encouraged to achieve their potential.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
