We are seeking to establish a pool of Student Support Officers (SSO) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) is an Independent Public School in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 40 kilometres from the Perth Central Business District. We are an innovative College with student outcomes always at the forefront of everything we do. We advocate professional learning and development of career pathways for all staff. We serve students from surrounding suburbs including Carramar and Tapping.
As part of our vision for the College students are included in a culture of excellence, innovation, opportunity and success. Our school develops students into knowledgeable and respectful young adults through challenging, engaging and intentional instruction. Students are given a number of pathways on which to excel during their secondary education, including both curricular and extra-curricular programmes.
Find out more about our school by visiting jbsc.wa.edu.au or Schools Online.
The Role
The SSO assists with coordinating Student Support Programs at our school. This may ideally include developing and introducing systems or intervention strategies, completing work assessments on students (including liaising with any relevant parties), providing support and advice to teachers on strategies for supporting students and facilitating group work processes.
You would link our school to the local community, establishing a network of partnerships with other government and non-government agencies that could help support students and their families, and taking part in multi-disciplinary team meetings and case conferences within the school and with other agencies in certain cases. The SSO would research current issues and prepare information to develop and monitor new strategies or alternative programs. Suitable applicants will ideally have experience supporting various cultural initiatives/programs.
