We are seeking a driven and skilled candidate to join our dynamic team in making a difference to their local community.
Would you like to work in a genuinely exciting, flexible and friendly work environment? We offer a range of benefits, including flexible working hours and working at home, to help support you and get the best results possible for our community.
We value diversity and appreciate every individual’s perspective, bringing together a diverse and inclusive workforce to drive innovation and success. Whether it is enabling good governance to local communities, regulating racing, gaming and liquor activities, resolving consumer and trade disputes, monitoring compliance, protecting workers’ health and safety, or rolling out new technology to provide better customer service, LGIRS is committed to delivering for the benefit of WA and future generations.
The role
Consumer Protection is responsible for promoting fair trading and consumer protection in Western Australia.
As a Senior Regional Officer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering consumer protection services to both consumers and traders within your local regional region. Actively engaging with the community, you will understand and respond to emerging issues and deliver group services to support a fair-trading environment.
This is a varied and dynamic role where you will establish and maintain collaborative working relationships to support the delivery of these services and assist the community, with a particular focus on vulnerable consumers including Indigenous consumers, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. You will develop, implement and maintain appropriate education, community engagement and communication strategies including active engagement with the media, resolve consumer disputes, and undertake compliance inspections, as well as a host of other key tasks.
This role would suit someone who has experience interpreting and applying policy/legislation within a challenging environment.
Located in Albany, the position will provide you with historical sites and modern environmentally sustainable infrastructure. Albany boasts a range of planning, building, environmental, and transport facilities, along with family and community services to support living, working and raising families in a picturesque location.
