This is a fixed-term, full-time vacancy available for 12 months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency, subject to business requirements

About the role

The Infrastructure and Environment Directorate provides the leadership, responsibility, and direction for infrastructure activities ensuring facilities are built and maintained in line with the needs of the Department. These Infrastructure activities comprise of major capital projects, minor works, maintenance and development of asset plans and standards.

The Senior Project Officer (Maintenance) is responsible for the effective co-ordination, budget management and monitoring or commissioning of infrastructure maintenance, replacement, low-risk minor works and improvement programs. The position will provide expert advice on infrastructure maintenance, replacement, minor works; improvement and development priorities to key internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Project Officer will also proactively contribute to infrastructure maintenance, replacement and improvement schedules for asset life cycles.

Suitability Requirements

Through the recruitment process, we will be looking for a candidate who can demonstrate skills, experience and attributes in relation to the following:

  • Effective Communication – able to engage well in both verbal and written communication with a wide range of stakeholders including Department business areas, government agencies and other parties involved in maintenance and minor works.
  • Project Management - Monitors progress of minor works projects to ensure that milestones and performance indicators are met within time and budget. Evaluate project/program performance, identify areas of improvement and initiate changes.
  • Maintenance of the Department’s Assets - Monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of service providers. Prepare, maintain, and undertake infrastructure asset maintenance, replacement and improvement plans to ensure the sustainability of the Department’s assets. Knowledge of the Department’s Court and Custodial operations is desirable.
  • Integrity - A demonstrated high level of integrity and professionalism. The ability to discuss alternative solutions to progress issues and meet objectives. Provide impartial and clear advice and propose solutions.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undertake travel to regional sites within the State as part of the responsibility of the role.
  • A C class license will be required.
