Contribute to significant policy and governance reform across PCHN and CAHS.

VCID No. 743459

This is a Part Time (0.5 FTE), Fixed Term position for 12 months, with possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. Job share arrangements will be considered.

Applicants assessed as suitable through this process will be considered for other vacancies within the team (within the next 12 months).

The PCHN Safety, Quality and Performance team is evolving, with a strong focus on supporting frontline care delivery, strengthening contemporary governance and service improvement, and embedding robust safety and quality systems across Perth Children’s Hospital and Neonatology (PCHN).

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Policy Coordinator to lead and coordinate the development, implementation and review of policy across PCHN.

Reporting to the Director, Safety, Quality and Performance PCHN, you will work closely with senior clinical and corporate leaders, governance committees and CAHS colleagues to develop and implement evidence-based policies that support safe, high-quality care and align with legislative, regulatory and strategic requirements.

A key focus of the role for the first 12-18 months will be supporting the development and implementation of a CAHS-wide policy strategy including rationalising the existing policy suite, identifying duplication and opportunities to streamline processes, and strengthening governance and accountability for policy development, implementation and review. This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver a streamlined and contemporary policy framework that supports compliance, reduces duplication and enables consistent, evidence-based practice.

You will bring a strong process and improvement mindset, working with stakeholders to understand the rationale for change, identify practical solutions, build support and translate policy requirements into consistent practice.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading the development, review, implementation and evaluation of PCHN policies, frameworks and governance processes.
  • Working with policy owners and senior stakeholders, providing expert advice on policy development, governance, compliance and implementation.
  • Identifying and managing policy risks, compliance requirements and opportunities to strengthen governance.
  • Supporting alignment with NSQHS Standards, legislative requirements and accreditation readiness.
  • Leading policy improvement initiatives, including the development, implementation and evaluation of change initiatives.
  • Building policy capability through education, consultation and expert guidance.
  • Preparing high-quality reports, briefings and presentations for senior leaders, governance committees, CAHS and WA Health.
  • Representing PCHN at relevant forums and building strategic relationships to support best-practice policy development.

About You

If you have experience leading the formulation, development, implementation and evaluation of complex policies, frameworks or governance processes, together with a strong understanding of policy governance, compliance and the practical application of standards and legislative requirements, we encourage you to apply.

About our Team

Our team works in partnership with the PCHN directorates (Medical, Surgical, Allied Health & Neonatology), clinical teams and CAHS colleagues to support safe, high-quality care. We lead and coordinate work across clinical governance, accreditation readiness, quality improvement, clinical incident and risk management, policy, safety and quality performance reporting and system-wide learning.

Through engagement with our workforce and consumers we ensure that our patients and their families are active partners in their healthcare journey and contribute to the continuous improvement of our services. We are committed to fostering a culture of learning, continuous improvement and innovation, identifying emerging trends, evaluating best practice and implementing practical solutions that strengthen patient safety and improve outcomes for children, young people and their families.

We are looking for collaborative and motivated, improvement-minded people who can build strong relationships, support PCHN and CAHS to deliver on safety and quality priorities, and help drive practical, sustainable improvements across PCHN.
