Are you ready to make a meaningful impact across Western Australia’s custodial facilities?
The Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services is an independent statutory authority that promotes accountability and the rights of people in custody through inspections, reviews, and oversight of the Independent Visitors Service.
Join our dynamic team as a Senior Inspections and Review Officer, where you'll lead critical inspections, reviews, and monitoring initiatives that shape the future of custodial services. In this role, you’ll contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, offering technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members. Your research and analysis will drive evidence-based recommendations that influence high-level decision-making and improve operational outcomes.
We’re looking for someone who thrives on collaboration and stakeholder engagement. You’ll build strong relationships through clear communication, strategic negotiation, and proactive issue management to ensure project goals are met. As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide insights on emerging challenges and help steer project development in alignment with policy objectives, timelines, and priorities. If you're passionate about justice, reform, and making a difference—this is your opportunity to lead from the front.
Justice sector experience is desirable, but not essential.
We value applicants with experience in prisons, youth detention, or other justice settings, as this background can provide a strong foundation for the role. However, we also recognise that valuable skills and insights come from a wide range of professional and personal experiences.
Whether you've worked in social work, health or mental health, education and training, investigations, criminology, custodial services, or other community-focused roles, your experience can help you succeed in this position. We welcome people with diverse backgrounds who bring curiosity, sound judgement, and a commitment to improving outcomes for people in custody.
We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer that embraces the diversity of our team. We strongly encourage applications from people of all ages, people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally diverse communities, and people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. If you have a disability, we’ll provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and in the workplace to support your success.
