This is a fixed term, full time vacancy available for 18 months.

About the role

The Western Australian Office of Crime Statistics and Research (WACSAR) is responsible for researching and analysing crime and criminal justice issues and trends in Western Australia. The Office interprets and critically evaluates justice data to inform policy and government decision-making and policy development. The Office also works in partnership with other relevant agencies and stakeholders to independently evaluate criminal justice policies, programs and initiatives. WACSAR routinely makes criminal justice statistics and other information available to the public via its website.

The Senior Data Modelling and Analytics Officer contributes to delivering on a program of works that meets the Department’s strategic priorities and demand for statistical data insights to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and system reform. The role provides guidance to the Data Modelling and Analytics Director and Principal Data Modelling and Analytics Officer on emerging issues and trends, and acts as a positive change agent, driving continuous improvement in an environment of reform.

Suitability Requirements

Through the recruitment process, we will be looking for a candidate who can demonstrate skills, experience and attributes in relation to the following:

Role-specific requirements - Relevant skills the data modelling and analytics space, such as inferential statistics and modelling, and the communication of findings to diverse sets of stakeholders of varying technical capability and differing operating environments.

Lead Collectively - Skills in relation to leading other staff at the one-to-one level, building capacity to help enable the Department’s capabilities in analytic spaces, and monitor and motivate staff to ensure the timely and effective delivery of project outputs to stakeholders.

Think through complexity - A developed capacity to think through complex issues to achieve valuable outcomes, and to be sensitive to and adapt their style of working to differing social and organisational environments around them.

Lead Adaptively - Apply insight to recognise areas requiring further development within their own skillsets, pursue relevant opportunities to enhance their own capabilities, and to support and act as a role model for junior staff in their team.
