Are you passionate about making a difference for Western Australia?
We want to hear from you.
About us
The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.
What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.
We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.
We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.
The work area
This role sits within the Utilities, Transactions and Climate Directorate, which is part of the Agency Budgeting and Governance business unit. The business unit provides advice to Government on matters relating to government agencies and Government Trading Enterprises, including funding requests considered through the Budget process.
The Utilities, Transactions and Climate Directorate provides advice on matters relating to the electricity and water sectors, climate change policies and programs, and significant Government Trading Enterprise initiatives and contracts. The Directorate also coordinates the Household Model, which assesses the impact of Government fees and charges on a typical household.
The opportunity
Are you interested in the role climate policy can play in shaping the State's future?
We are seeking a motivated and analytical Senior Analyst to join the Climate Coordination Unit within the Utilities, Transactions and Climate Directorate. In this role, you will contribute to DTF advice on climate change mitigation, adaptation and renewable energy initiatives that have significant economic, financial and community impacts across the State.
In this role you will:
- analyse climate policy proposals, programs and strategies, providing evidence-based advice to support Government decision-making;
- work with government agencies, Government Trading Enterprises and subject matter experts to assess climate change initiatives, funding proposals and associated economic impacts; and
- contribute to DTF advice on emissions reduction, adaptation and renewable energy policies, and support the evaluation of major climate initiatives.
- The role provides exposure to whole-of-government policy development, budget decision-making and cross-agency collaboration on some of the State's most significant climate-related priorities.
We currently have one (1) permanent full-time position available within the Climate Coordination Unit of the Utilities, Transactions and Climate Directorate. This recruitment process may be used to fill other Level 6 vacancies that arise within the Utilities, Transactions and Climate Directorate.
