About the role

As part of the Emergency Response team, you will develop analytical methods and response procedures to solve issues related to HAZMAT/CBRN and Dangerous Goods incidents. You will contribute to Research and Development (R&D)  programs in this area, provide scientific expertise during emergency response activities, liaise with clients and stakeholders on work in progress, and respond to complex scientific enquiries.

The successful applicant will possess a degree or higher qualification in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline. You will thrive in a high-paced team environment and work under high pressure environment.

You must hold a current WA driver’s licence  and participate in HAZMAT/CBRN incident response activities and a mandatory participation in a 24/7 on‑call roster which may require intrastate deployment at short notice.

This position is a Fixed Term, full-time vacancy twelve(12) months, with the possibility for extension and/or permanency.

Applicants assessed as suitable but not recommended for this vacancy may be considered for similar positions for up to 12 months after the selection process is finalised.

For a fixed term appointment, you must have valid Australian working rights for the full contract period.

Prior to commencing employment, a National Police Clearance, fitness for work assessment via alcohol and drug testing, and proof of identity will be required.
