We are seeking to establish a pool of School Officers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Canning Vale Education Support Centre is a growing, Independent Public Kindergarten to Year 6 school with a current enrolment of 51 children. We host one of the Autism Early Intervention programs for Kindy and Pre-primary students with Autism. The Centre is situated on a shared campus with Canning Vale Primary School, located South East of Perth in the metropolitan area.

The Role

Canning Vale Education Support Centre is seeking dynamic and organised School Officers to join our team and help manage the financial and operational aspects of our school. You will play a vital role in ensuring the financial stability of the school, while supporting the Manager Corporate Services in all facets of financial management.

Suitable applicants would be undertaking reception and front desk duties, including greeting visitors, answering telephone enquiries, responding to routine enquiries and requests for information and providing friendly, efficient and professional customer service. The School Officer should assist in creating a welcoming and positive first impression of the school while ensuring information is communicated accurately and appropriately.

The role will also provide a broad range of general clerical and administrative support, including preparing correspondence, newsletters, notices and other school communications; distributing and collecting documents and mail; maintaining accurate records; entering data and generating routine reports; and supporting the day-to-day organisation of the school office.

The School Officer provides comprehensive student administration support, including assisting with student enrolment procedures, maintaining accurate student attendance records, generating routine correspondence relating to absenteeism, and managing student-related information. The role ideally requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail when handling sensitive student and family data. Proficiency in using Compass, the school's student management platform, would be highly regarded for maintaining student records, monitoring attendance, communicating with families, and supporting the efficient administration of student services.

The School Officer would also undertake a range of financial and administrative processes, including handling and receipting monies in accordance with Department of Education procedures, assisting with financial record keeping and supporting the Manager Corporate Services with routine financial and administrative requirements.

In addition, the role will contribute to the management of school facilities, assets and resources, including reporting faults, coordinating repairs and maintenance, assisting with stocktakes and maintaining asset and resource registers. Suitable applicants will ideally possess strong organisational skills in managing the onsite therapist processes.

The School Officer would work closely with the Manager Corporate Services and school administration team, supporting the induction and training of school support staff, assisting with recruitment processes, maintaining staff records and all facets of HRMIS.

    • Demonstrated ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
    • Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
    • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
