We are seeking an experienced and motivated Saleyard Manager to lead livestock operations at the Muchea Livestock Centre (MLC), Western Australia's largest dual species livestock selling facility.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in Western Australia's strategic agricultural asset, supporting livestock producers, agents, transport operators, processors and industry stakeholders from across the State. You will be responsible for leading a diverse team, managing day-to-day operations and working collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure the continued success of MLC. The role requires someone who can build strong relationships, balance competing priorities, resolve complex issues and identify practical solutions that deliver positive outcomes for industry.

About WAMIA

The Western Australian Meat Industry Authority (WAMIA) is an independent statutory authority established under the Western Australian Meat Industry Authority Act 1976. WAMIA supports a successful and sustainable Western Australian meat and livestock industry that benefits regional communities and the State.

WAMIA's responsibilities include ownership and management of the Muchea Livestock Centre, regulating abattoirs and providing advice to Government on industry matters.

About the Opportunity

We currently have one (1) permanent full-time opportunity for a Saleyard Manager available for immediate filling.

The Saleyard Manager is responsible for managing the delivery of efficient and effective livestock operations and services at the Muchea Livestock Centre and maintaining strong relationships with customers and industry stakeholders.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will:

• Lead and oversee livestock operations across cattle and sheep sales, private weighs and transshipment business segments.
• Manage a team of employees and contractors in a dynamic operational environment.
• Drive a culture of safety, accountability and service excellence.
• Manage operational budgets and financial performance.
• Contribute to asset management, capital works and maintenance planning.
• Ensure compliance with work health and safety, animal welfare and biosecurity requirements.
• Work collaboratively with agents, producers, transporters, service providers, government agencies and industry organisations.
• Identify opportunities to improve services, increase operational efficiency and support industry growth.
