This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Part Time appointments for 18 months, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency to Midwifery roles, at 64 hours per fortnight.

Intakes commence in February 2027.

The WACHS Student Midwife Program provides Registered Nurses with the opportunity to undertake postgraduate midwifery studies while remaining connected to and supporting communities across country WA and contributing to the future of rural and regional maternity services.

Delivered in partnership with universities across Western Australia, the 18-month program combines academic study with practical experience, supporting participants to develop the knowledge and skills required to provide maternity care to women, babies and families across country WA.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

1. Be eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
2. Be eligible for enrolment in an NMBA credentialed postgraduate midwifery program
3. Hold a current C Class Driver's Licence

1. Demonstrated clinical knowledge and delivery of evidence-based nursing care, applicable to midwifery, within the scope of Registered Nurse, including effective communication, teamwork, quality and risk management, and use of clinical information systems.
2. Demonstrated understanding of healthcare delivery in rural and regional WA through lived, work or study experience, and a commitment to WACHS maternity services.
