About the role

As the Public Safety and Security Manager, you will have the opportunity to oversee security operations across multiple venues and events, ensuring robust systems, processes and people are in place to manage risk and respond effectively to incidents and emergencies. This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in creating safe, welcoming and inclusive environments where patrons, staff, artists, contractors and the community can enjoy outstanding cultural experiences.

Reporting to the Director Event Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across public safety and security, working closely with venue and events leaders, internal teams, contractors, Police, emergency services, government agencies and event organisers. You will also work across a dynamic portfolio of venues and events where no two days are the same.

Location

This role will be based at one of our metropolitan venues and may be required to travel to work from ACT’s metropolitan sites as required.

About you

If you are a strategic thinker who is equally comfortable leading from the front during a major event, building strong teams and developing systems that make a lasting difference, we would love to hear from you. We only ask that you bring:

• Your experience in leading security operations in public venues, cultural institutions or major events.
• Strong knowledge of emergency management, WHS and risk assessment methodologies.
• Proven leadership and people management capability, including experience managing contractors.
• The ability to build effective relationships with emergency services, government agencies and diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, incident management, report writing and documentation skills.
• Substantial experience with CCTV, access control, induction systems, incident management platforms and venue safety technologies.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, policies and codes of practice, including AS 3745:2010, HB 167:2006, ISO 31000:2018 and the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA).
• A commitment to creating safe, inclusive environments that respect diverse communities and artistic expression.

Conditions

To be eligible for this role, we require that you to have:

• A relevant tertiary qualification (Certificate level or higher) in security management, risk management, emergency management or a related discipline.
• A current security licence, as required under Western Australian legislation.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• A current National Police Clearance Certificate.
• The ability to work evenings, weekends and event schedules on site as required.
