The Property Officer is part of the Field team within the Property Directorate that delivers responsive and fit for purpose vacant land management services for a portfolio of Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) owned properties to support the strategic objectives of the WAPC.

If you enjoy working outdoors and have experience in vacant land management, including driving 4WD vehicles and managing contractors, then a Property Officer role might be for you!

The team is seeking two Property Officers who will each manage a portfolio of properties.  The role includes conducting field inspections, assessing management issues, arranging maintenance works and compliance checks.  The role combines research, stakeholder engagement, detailed reporting and fieldwork across the metropolitan area that may extend to the Peel and Greater Bunbury areas of the State.

These are permanent, full-time positions.  This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment. 

Organisational requirements including Possession of current ‘C’ class drivers’ license with experience driving 4WD vehicles will also be considered during the recruitment and selection process.

To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate: 

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary trends and current practices in vacant land management.
  2. Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
  3. Well-developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability in resolving queries as they relate to the vacant land management environment.
  4. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders including preparing accurate reports for decision making.
  5. Demonstrate the behaviours within the leadership context as outlined below.

Core leadership behaviours outlined in Leadership Expectations are applicable to this role and should be demonstrated in the context of Personal Leadership. The Personal Leadership context is about the work of individuals not yet in traditional leadership positions who make a direct and immediate difference to the agency. The expected behaviours may be assessed during the recruitment and selection process.

Special Requirements for this position:

Possession of current ‘C’ class drivers’ licence with experience driving 4WD vehicles.

The Department will conduct a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check for applicants successful to this recruitment process.
