The Role
The Program Coordinator – Teaching and Learning, in collaboration with the senior leadership team will be responsible for improving learning outcomes through quality curriculum, through Teaching for Impact, including the incorporation of literacy, numeracy, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) capabilities and assisting to continue development around the school learning environment through behaviour support. This will include incorporating the use of data to inform practice and improve outcomes for our students. A fundamental aspect of this role will be to support the development of innovative classroom practices and provide leadership to staff in providing integrated, differentiated, personalised, authentic and relevant learning experiences for students.
Under the leadership of the executive team, the suitable applicant will lead the ongoing implementation of the Hedland Instructional Model and Orderly Learning Environment (“Our Way”), and use established and agreed improvement strategies to implement effective Quality Teaching and Learning practices across all Learning Areas. This will include individualised support for students in terms of learning, behaviour, literacy and numeracy, and ongoing staff support and development through the design and delivery of targeted professional learning.
The Program Coordinator – Teaching and Learning contributes to the development of the school plan through participative decision making, including assisting in developing policy and establishing and maintaining systems.
Additionally, responsibilities of the role include:
- classroom teaching and/or small group tuition – up to 0.6FTE
- instructional leadership
- ongoing review and support of “Our Way”
- development, promotion and collaborative maintenance of the Hedland SHS Teaching and Learning Handbook
- mentoring and/or in-class coaching for new and experience staff
- providing professional learning for staff
- providing feedback to assist teacher proficiency expectations
- driving a culture of lifelong professional learning and high expectations
- in-class coaching and observations
- other operational and strategic requirements, including but not limited to – use of school systems and databases, evaluation and revision of reporting and accountability mechanisms, development of policy and procedures.
