Burbridge School is situated 15 km north of Perth in the suburb of Koondoola and provides individualised diverse and innovative learning programs for students in Kindergarten to Year 12. We cater for students with moderate to severe disabilities and complex, multifaceted support needs. These may include severe autism, intellectual disability, behavioural challenges, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and significant medical needs, requiring staff who are skilled, compassionate, and committed to inclusive education. All students experience communication difficulties, with most being Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users. Assistive technologies and intensive adult support are key components of our individualised teaching and learning programs.

Our small class sizes, specialist teachers and education assistants provide targeted support through a differentiated curriculum aligned with the WA Curriculum and ABLEWA. Individual Education Plans are developed collaboratively with families to meet each student’s needs and goals.

Our students benefit from purpose-built, specialist facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, gymnasium, enterprise gardens, library, medical room, kitchen with both regular and switch adapted appliances, light and dark multi-sensory room, and a life skills centre. The Role

As a Program Coordinator, you will be an important member of the School Leadership Team, working closely with the Principal and other leaders to provide strategic, educational and operational leadership. 

The successful applicant will ideally be enthusiastic, innovative, and team-oriented who shows an understanding of teacher development and curriculum expertise, ideally across both primary and secondary education support.

The successful applicant will ideally have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and display personal attributes of leadership. They should have a willingness to take feedback and direction when needed and build a positive team culture through distributed leadership and disciplined dialogue. As a Program Coordinator, you would possess the ability to prioritise tasks and meet administrative deadlines, work collaboratively with a team focus and growth mindset and understand the need for high expectations.

The desired applicant will ideally be able to provide leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of student curriculum and specialised programs within our setting with a specific focus on Literacy and Numeracy outcomes. They will ideally have experience in leading Early Years and Education Support teams, with a strong understanding of National Quality Standards, ABLEWA curriculum pathways, Positive Behaviour Support Strategies, Public School Review requirements and whole‑school operational planning.

The successful applicant should ideally have the capacity to guide staff through review and improvement processes, contribute to Public School Review documentation, coordinate whole‑school approaches, and oversee the development of high‑quality teaching, learning and behaviour support programs. As a school committed to the Department’s Quality Teaching Strategy, the successful applicant will ideally be familiar with the Teaching for Impact Framework and understand what effective teachers believe, know and do to support student success. Applicants with the ability to coach teachers and education assistants in Quality Teaching Strategy and Teaching for Impact, supporting consistent, evidence‑based instructional practice aligned to school priorities will be viewed favourably.
