The Role

Roebourne DHS is seeking a skilled educator and collaborative instructional leader to join our team as Program Coordinator – Curriculum Coach. This is an opportunity to work alongside teachers and school leaders to strengthen the quality, consistency and impact of teaching and learning across our school.

The Program Coordinator – Curriculum Coach provides instructional leadership to strengthen teaching quality and student achievement. Reporting to the Principal and working closely with Deputy Principals, you will contribute to school planning, promote the school’s shared vision and lead improvement within the curriculum portfolio.

You will translate whole-school priorities into effective classroom practice, strengthen curriculum coherence, and support teachers to use assessment evidence to plan, teach and evaluate student learning. Through collaborative decision making and effective change processes, you will build staff ownership of agreed approaches and support their consistent implementation.

Building staff capability is central to this role. Through coaching cycles, modelling, observation and feedback, you will ideally help teachers refine their practice and evaluate its impact. You will facilitate Professional Learning Communities, collaborative planning and targeted professional learning, combining clear expectations with practical support and professional trust.

You ideally will provide school leaders with clear evidence of curriculum implementation, staff capability development and student progress. This will allow improvement planning, Public School Review evidence and reporting on curriculum-aligned funded initiatives where applicable. You will exercise professional judgement within agreed frameworks, recommend priorities and resource needs, and raise significant curriculum, assessment or resourcing concerns promptly.

The successful applicant will ideally bring:

  • The ability to coach and mentor teachers through modelling, observation, feedback and reflection.
  • Strong curriculum knowledge and the capacity to develop coherent planning and assessment practices across teams.
  • Confidence in analysing student achievement data and translating findings into specific teaching and improvement actions.
  • The capacity to lead change collaboratively, establish shared expectations and follow through on agreed priorities.
  • A commitment to culturally responsive teaching, high expectations and meaningful learning for Aboriginal students.
  • An understanding of differentiated teaching, adjustments for students with disability and the needs of students learning English as an additional language or dialect.
  • The ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs), Aboriginal Language Teachers, families and colleagues to connect curriculum planning with cultural knowledge and students’ lived experiences.
  • The capacity to manage resources and budgets responsibly and align expenditure with identified learning needs.
  • Strong organisational skills, sound professional judgement and a commitment to ongoing professional learning.

This role will suit a leader who wants to remain closely connected to classroom practice, make improvement processes practical and manageable for staff, and evaluate success through stronger teaching and demonstrable student progress.

About you

We are ideally looking for an educator who displays effective classroom practice and the ability to strengthen the practice of others. You would bring sound knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, alongside the interpersonal skills to lead purposeful professional conversations, build productive relationships and support sustained improvement.
