Strategic and External Relations are seeking to establish a pool of Principal Consultants - Primary - Curriculum and Assessment (International) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026 and up to the end of December 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The School Curriculum and Standards Division provides administrative and secretariat services for, and implements the decisions of, the Authority. The Authority provides quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all students studying the Western Australian curriculum to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.

The Authority has been licensing overseas schools to implement the Western Australian curriculum under its International Education Program (IEP) for more than 38 years. The Authority is undertaking an expansion of its IEP in accordance with the State’s international education strategy and is currently working with schools across the globe to deliver the Western Australian curriculum.

The Role

The Authority is seeking to appoint staff with expertise in the Western Australian curriculum and assessment in the primary years of schooling, to support the ongoing delivery and expansion of the IEP. The Principal Consultant works closely with leaders and teachers in international schools to facilitate the effective implementation, delivery and continuous improvement of the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline (Outline), the Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines, the Early Years Learning Framework, and other connected Western Australian curriculum programs.

The role provides expert curriculum and assessment advice and support to schools during curriculum implementation and ongoing program delivery, including curriculum planning, assessment practices, performance monitoring, moderation and quality assurance activities. The position contributes to the development and review of curriculum and assessment resources and supports schools through the design, coordination and delivery of professional learning, information sessions and other capacity-building initiatives.

The Principal Consultant works collaboratively with schools, systems, sectors and other stakeholders to undertake complex project and program work, facilitate consultation and engagement processes, and prepare high-level reports, correspondence, briefings and advice for senior leadership and key stakeholders. The position may also provide executive support to advisory committees, consultative groups and working parties and contributes to strategic initiatives that support the Authority's international education objectives, including engagement with prospective international schools and partners.

Applicants with expertise in curriculum implementation and assessment in primary education settings are highly desirable. Applicants with demonstrated experience supporting school leaders and teachers to implement the Outline, the Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines, the Early Years Learning Framework and other connected Western Australian curriculum programs will be highly regarded in this process.

The successful applicant must be willing and able to undertake occasional international or interstate travel, as the need arises.
