The Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence (CESNCE)
The Department of Training and Workforce Development is leading the establishment of Australia’s first Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence.

The Department helps Western Australians to get into training and get skills for the wide array of jobs with the State’s vibrant businesses and communities in our strong and diversifying economy.  Through close engagement with industry, community and training providers, we ensure training and workforce development initiatives meet the needs of the Western Australian community.

Working with the State’s TAFE network, the Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence will provide State and national leadership for development and innovation in training for clean energy technologies. The Centre will partner with WA TAFEs, universities, industry, unions, Jobs and Skills Councils and other stakeholders to build the workforce pipeline needed for our economy to transition to net zero carbon emissions.

Under the guidance of an Industry Advisory Board, the Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence will also be a front door for industry to access comprehensive training and workforce solutions.

We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage people with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences to join us, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disability, youth, women and people of diverse sexualities and genders.

Leadership for All
Critical to our success in delivering value for the future of Western Australians is the leadership capability of our people. We believe that everyone is a leader, regardless of their role and we are committed to advancing our collective leadership impact by adopting the behaviours and mindsets in Leadership Expectations.

The Role
The Principal Consultant Clean Energy Training and Development provides training leadership in a professional team who will work in a fast moving, collaborative environment engaging with clean energy and related industries. This role will partner with TAFE and registered training organisations, tertiary education institutions, Jobs and Skills Councils, community organisations, government and other stakeholders.

The position works collaboratively with educational designers from partner education and training institutions, subject matter experts, training resource developers, and stakeholders across the current and future clean energy landscape, to provide input to the design and assurance of future-focused training products, resources and services for critical stakeholders in training delivery.

The Principal Consultant will participate in and play a key role in supporting the coordination of a community of practice for program design, working with internal and external stakeholders to mobilise the implementation of the Centre’s objectives under the National Skills Agreement.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have extensive experience in the vocational education and training sector, with demonstrated skills in curriculum management, learning design, and educational resource development. You will have strong knowledge of contemporary technology-enabled learning practices and excellent understanding of pedagogical approaches for diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience with principles of project management and interaction with diverse stakeholder groups will also be highly regarded.

Training development experience in regulated and/or technical domains (electrical, utilities, engineering etc) is desirable, but not crucial.

As a measure to achieve equality under sections 51, 66R and 66ZP of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people (24 years of age and under) and people with disability who meet the requirements of the position may be prioritised for appointment.
