This pool recruitment process will be used to fill permanent, fixed term, full time and part time vacancies that may arise over a period of 12 months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process. Fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency. There is currently one Permanent Full Time vacancy available.

About the role

The Grants Management Unit within the Grants Management and Integrity Division is responsible for the assignment and management of legal aid grants to private practitioners and in-house staff. As a team leader, you will provide high level support to an engaged and resilient team in day-to-day assessing duties, as well as the team’s ongoing skill development across crime, family, and civil areas of law. Your knowledge and initiative will be vital in supporting the management team to identify and implement improvements to work processes and creating operational efficiencies. You will have excellent communication skills, people management skills and knowledge of grants processes and policies. The role will also support internal and external stakeholders focussing on service delivery improvements.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • the ability to lead and work in a team environment, including the ability to acquire and impart knowledge.
  • experience and the ability to make sound decisions within tight timeframes.
  • critical thinking skills and initiative to assist in the continuing development of service delivery in the Grants Management and Integrity Division and the wider organisation.
  • well-developed interpersonal skills, resilience, with a client centric approach to the role.
  • high level knowledge of eligibility guidelines applicable to grants of aid and other service options available to family, civil, and criminal law clients.

Pool conditions

As this is a pool, vacancies will be offered on a full-time or part-time, permanent or fixed-term basis.
