Goldfields Region manages 8.6 million hectares of conservation reserves including national parks, conservation parks, nature reserves, timber reserves, State forest and former pastoral leases (proposed reserves). Staff within the region work with traditional owners in many of these reserves to help protect the natural and cultural values of the area and to ensure customary activities and traditional practices are maintained. Goldfields Region is also responsible for fire preparedness, weeds and feral animal control on 40.3 million hectares of unallocated Crown land and unmanaged reserves.

We are currently seeking a Operations Officer to join our team.
Under the direction of the Regional Leader Parks and Visitor Services:
- Participates in the planning, organisation and implementation of works programs, projects and operations relating to parks and visitor services, joint management and fire management in the Goldfields Region.
- Monitors and reports on operations.
- Liaises with community, key stakeholders and community groups in a positive and informed manner.
- Prepares and delivers allocated works programs to agreed standards and timeframes.
- Undertakes an active role in prescribed burning and bushfire suppression operations.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following three (3) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.
- Knowledge of and experience in the planning, budgeting, writing and operational implementation of works programs associated with natural land management or a closely related field or technical area, with a preference for experience in conservation.
- Evidence of good interpersonal skills and experience in effective liaison with external organisations, including local authorities, private companies, other government agencies, stakeholders (including indigenous) and community interest groups.
- Knowledge and skills in leading and managing teams, including leadership and motivation in implementing works programs, scheduling work, setting and reviewing goals and controlling and reviewing progress, including experience with contractors and volunteers.
