This is a 6-month fixed term, full-time position commencing as soon as possible with possible extension and/or permanency

Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School (KBCHS) was established in 2006 and proudly provides quality secondary education for students in Years 7 to 10. With an enrolment of more than 900 students, the school is a diverse and inclusive community that brings together young people from a wide range of socio-economic, cultural and educational backgrounds. The Role

The Network Administrator will assist in play a key role in maintaining a reliable, secure and effective Information Technology (IT) environment supporting more than 900 students and staff at KBCHS. The successful applicant will ideally be responsible for managing network infrastructure, user access and permissions, password maintenance, system backups, data security and disaster recovery processes. They should also be able to support compliance with software licensing, IT copyright obligations and relevant regulatory requirements, ensuring risks and potential breaches are identified and addressed appropriately.

The role will provide practical technical support and advice across the College, and can include assistance with CCTV enquiries and collaboration with Department of Education IT Support and external providers to resolve hardware, software, connectivity and network issues. The successful applicant will ideally coordinate system updates and maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues, respond promptly to system failures and contribute to improving the overall performance, reliability and security of the College’s IT environment.

A proactive, solutions-focused approach is highly valued. The successful applicant will ideally be able to identify potential risks and areas for improvement, recommend and implement appropriate technology solutions, and research emerging technologies that may benefit the College. They will ideally provide practical support, advice and guidance to staff, helping build confidence and capability in the effective use of IT systems and ensuring technology continues to support teaching, learning and the broader operations of KBCHS.

Ideally, they should take a proactive approach to identifying risks and recommending improvements aligned with the school’s IT goals.

  1. Demonstrated skills and experience in administering a computer network and facilitating access to applications.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of hardware, software and other information technology resources including software licensing and Information Technology copyright obligations and regulations.
  3. Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to work with limited supervision and prioritise duties in a demanding environment.
  4. Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills relevant to computer support.
  5. Demonstrated well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to consult and negotiate with users on issues relevant to network administration.
  6. Demonstrated well-developed written communication skills with the ability to develop and implement user-training procedures.
