This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting contribution to Western Australia's cultural heritage. As Legal Deposit Librarian, you will deliver legal deposit services through the State legal deposit program and the National eDeposit (NED) platform, helping ensure the State's published works are collected, preserved and accessible for generations to come.

There is currently one permanent, full-time (75 hours per fortnight) vacancy.

To succeed in this role, you will be you will be a qualified librarian with a strong understanding of legal deposit principles and a passion for preserving Western Australia’s published heritage.  You will have strong technical and organisational skills with a collaborative and customer-focused approach. You will be comfortable working with digital systems and collection workflows, building relationships with publishers and stakeholders, and finding practical solutions to complex challenges.

  1. A current CV with two work related referees (with one referee who is a current line manager).
  2. A cover letter (to a maximum two (2) pages), outlining your experience, knowledge and skills addressing the Essential Work-Related Requirements listed below, as stated in the attached Job Description Form:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal deposit principles, legislation, policies and practices, including the acquisition, management, preservation and provision of access to published materials in physical and digital formats (WRR 2)
  • Well-developed digital literacy skills, and experience using integrated library management systems and digital repositories, including ability to manage digital collection workflows (WRR 2).
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with publishers, government agencies, collecting institutions and other stakeholders (WRR3).
  • Well-developed written communication skills, including the ability to prepare procedures, correspondence, reports and guidance material (WRR4).
  1. A copy of your qualification is required. Overseas qualifications need to be assessed for Australian equivalency by a recognised Australian Qualification Framework assessor (WRR1).

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants found suitable for this position may be considered for ‘similar’ vacancies within the State Library of WA which arise within 12 months of the recruitment process being endorsed. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Future vacancies may be considered to fill fixed term, permanent, part-time or full-time or casual roles.
